Winter has certainly arrived this past week here in Wagga. The temperature has dropped, it is overcast and raining and dark before 5.30pm. While some may find these conditions drab and dreary – it doesn’t have to be this way inside your home. You can make your home a winter retreat with a few simple styling tips and tricks. So pop on your ugg boots, cuddle up on the lounge and think about how you can incorporate these tips in your home. You can hibernate the winter away in style!
ADD TEXTURE
One of our favourite ways to to style a home for the cooler months is to introduce some texture. Chunky knits aren’t just for wearing. Think about chunky knitted throws draped across the lounge, textured cushions in warm colours. Lay a faux fur throw across your bed or hang it on the back of a arm chair. Perhaps think about a warm, thick rug for the living area or entry.
JEWEL TONES
Rich colours like mustard, royal purple, teal and sapphire are perfect colours for adding warmth and depth to your home for winter. Paired with charcoals and grey, these colours work well to introduce a pop of colour over the winter months.
BED LINEN
Put away your bright and colourful bed linen. Look for a doona cover that is quilted with a mix of jewel tones paired with pastels. Or a solid grey with some coloured cushions. Pull out your flannette sheets and your bedroom is a cozy haven for the cooler months. You will never want to leave your bed.
LIGHTING
The days are shorter in winter. Its dark when we get home from work and dark when we get up. It is however, the perfect time of the year to make use of ambient lighting. Use a mix of table lamps, floor lamps and candles to create a warm inviting glow through out your home.
