Interior Trends for 2016 - de Jong Homes

With 2016 almost here, we thought we would share with you some 2016 interior design trends that are emerging to become hot favourites for the new year –

1. DEEP AND MOODY COLOURS
Dulux have declared that deep and moody colours are back. Dulux have released 4 new colour palettes for 2016. Dark colours are designed to lure your imagination to a far off place while the retro brights and pastel combination is a throw back to the 60’s and 70’s.

2. TIMBER ROCKS THE BATHROOM
Thanks to shows such as The Block, we are seeing a huge shift towards timber being used and featured in the modern Australian bathroom. Stone benchtops are almost being considered out dated and cold, while timber is favoured as modern and warm.

3. PLANT LIFE
Filling your space with greenery is set to continue well into 2016. With the Fiddle Leaf Fig dominating these last few years, 2016 will see us filing corners with hanging baskets filled with Chain of Hearts and String of Pearls. Although these plants are hard to find, we bet you could find some at your Grandmothers house!

4. MATTE BLACK TAP WARE AND HARDWARE
You guys love matte black tap ware. We have talked about our favourites here and here. Did you know that you can also get matte black door handles and other hardware? We think this is a trend that will really take off in 2016!

5. KITCHENS WITH TEXTURE
We won’t be seeing white minimalist kitchens in 2016. What we will see is kitchens with more textures introduced via tiles and new textured laminates for kitchen cupboards. We will also see more contrast in cabinetry and bench tops. These new trends will add warm and depth to a kitchen.
